Be cautious of durian pit scale during cold weather
Durian growers in the flowering and fruit-setting stages should monitor for outbreaks of durian pit scale, which suck sap from the leaves, branches, buds, and fruit stalks. Severe infestations can cause the plants to yellow or die and hinder photosynthesis.

Prevention and control methods
- Inspect and remove damaged parts. If a mild infestation is found, prune the affected areas.
- Use White Oil 67% EC: Mix 20 ml with 20 liters of water and spray thoroughly to control scale insects.
- Apply insecticides: Use Dinotefuran 10% WP at a rate of 15 grams per 20 liters of water. Spray every 7 days for at least 2 applications.
